I’M STILL NOT DEAD

I’ll confess. The last couple of years have been a struggle for a variety of reasons, and my writing has suffered. Over the last several months, though, it’s been moving along. Book 3 is beginning to take shape. No imminent release, as the draft isn’t quite halfway done, I have a lot of story to jam into this third book — the finale of the trilogy — and then come the editing and beta-reading processes. Things are back on track, though, and I’m hoping for a summer or fall 2024 release.

If you haven’t checked out the short stories I’ve written for a couple of different anthologies, please check those out. Both of the anthologies, Heroes Wanted and Lost Lore, are free on Amazon for e-readers, and Heroes Wanted is available on Amazon for purchase as a paperback.

More updates forthcoming. Perhaps even a chapter or snippet thereof to post!

Cheers,

DB

NO I’M NOT DEAD!!!

For those few of you still checking in, please know I’M NOT DEAD! Not yet, anyway. I’ve been awful about updating my site, but know book three is coming along. Slowly, but coming along all the same. Lannick, Fencress, and Bale are all pissed at me, but they’re moving along as best I can manage.

In addition to working on the trilogy’s conclusion, I’m in the midst of a short story for a very exciting anthology featuring yours truly and many other (more) talented fantasy authors. Some names you will recognize and perhaps some others you won’t, but all are worth your eyeball time. My story will be fantasy, though unrelated to my Requiem trilogy. If you are looking for a short with characters from that trilogy, I’d encourage you to grab the Lost Lore anthology, still free on Amazon.

Anyway, I’m plugging away, and will have another update for you sooner rather than later. In the meantime, let your friends know that What Remains of Heroes is only 99 c/p for the next week or so. Spread the word! It’s what keeps authors like me going.

Cheers,

DB

Archon STL

So… I’ve been asked to be a panelist at Archon STL, one of the Midwest’s premier SF&F conventions! I’ll be speaking at panels covering religion in fantasy, tips for aspiring writers, and good ol’ AD&D. If you happen to be there next month (Oct. 12-14), feel free to track me down at one of my panels or in the local pub. I may just have a free signed book for you!

Cheers,

DB

Feast Thine Ears!

I’m overdue in posting this but if you’re interested in my books (and waiting on the third — it’s coming along!) you may well enjoy the fantastic podcast I’ve been involved with. Crit Faced is a weekly Dungeons and Dragons gaming session featuring yours truly and a number of fantastic fantasy authors: Benedict Patrick (author of the Yarnsworld series), Timandra Whitecastle (author of The Living Blade series), Phil Tucker (author of The Chronicles of the Black Gate, The Godsblood Trilogy, and the forthcoming Death March LitRPG), and Josiah Bancroft (author of The Books of Babel series). These are some very talented authors and I’d highly recommend checking them out.

Anyway, the five of us have been playing a D&D campaign for a while now, and it’s being released weekly as a podcast. Each us us created a character who’d “fit” in the world of our own individual books — mine is a younger brother of Karnag Mak Ragg, so he’s an axe-toting barbarian badass. The podcast features lots of adventure and even more humor. You can check it out here:

OK. Who’s still wanting this book???

Alright, gang. I’ve been dealing with a lot of headaches in getting the final product out the door.

HOWEVER, if you’re one of my fine readers who’ve been following along on my (sad, pathetic) website, then I have an offer for you! The book should be officially released next week, but if you’re one of the first few to leave me your email address in the comments below, I will send you the Kindle file IMMEDIATELY SO THAT YOU MAY FEAST THINE EYES UPON THIS MASTERPIECE.

Ahem.

Erm.

So you can read the book early, that is.

Lemme know.

Cheers!
